About Helga

Helga Bryant RN BScN MSA joined the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) as Executive Director in September 2009. Bryant brings more than 35 years of nursing practice to the position and she knows the health care landscape in Manitoba from a number of perspectives. Her experience in the major urban hospital in the province is balanced with her strong rural roots. Many registered nurses know Helga from her most recent role as Vice-President and Chief Nursing Officer at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, a position she held for seven years. Prior to that, Helga was the Vice-President of Acute Care and Diagnostic Services at the Brandon Regional Health Authority. Rounding out her resume are 19 solid years of clinical experience in Brandon in the ICU, EENT surgery and general surgery.

In her free time, Helga is a wife, mother and grandmother who believes work/life balance is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Integrity and spirituality have been and continue to be hallmarks of her personhood and leadership. She likes to spend time at the keyboard creating music. She also values volunteering for causes near to her heart. Helga is a strong advocate for lifelong learning and maintains involvement in both teaching and research.
